About Me

I love books.  I am an avid reader of almost anything in print.  I’ve been married to my husband, Rich, since 1970 and have two wonderful kids and three grandchildren, Our granddaughter who is 25 and married, and a granddaughter and grandson who are each 8 years old.  My daughter, Laurie, and son, David, are both married to wonderful people, Matt and Stephanie, whom we love dearly as our own,  and whom we see often.  We love to have our grandchildren visit with us.  They are the lights of our lives.

I was employed as an administrative assistant at a Catholic high school, the same high school I attended (my father and 6 siblings also attended there).  I was a middle school teacher when first married, and enjoyed being a support “go-to” to the teachers I worked with when I returned to school work.  It’s always good to see those people whom I care about, but it’s also good to be home and realize that I really don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn to get to work on time anymore because  my husband and I both retired in June of 2013.

I love to quilt, cook and sew. I have many plans to continue my hobbies.  My husband likes to volunteer and work in the yard.  He also works as a checker at one of our largest local grocery stores.  I have not murdered him yet, although I have threatened bodily mayhem.  He MUST be going or doing all the time, whereas I am happy to sit still (when I should be exercising) and work on my hobbies which I continue to add to my list.   I am a cancer survivor of almost 10 years and am confident that my health will continue to be excellent, well as excellent as it can be at my ripe old age of 74.  My mother is 95 and still going strong and my paternal aunt just turned 96.  They both live in their homes alone, but need us to transport to appointments and such.

I am excited about using a blog to review the books I love (and hate).  I hope you like this site.  I have no earthly idea what I am doing, but everyone else seems to be blogging so I thought, “Why not?”  My reviews are mine and my opinions are mine, so don’t get upset if I don’t agree with you on everything…get your own blog!  My daughter says that I am the “Queen of Sarcasm”.  She is probably right because my motto is – “Sarcasm…because beating the crap out of people is illegal.”  I enjoy making people laugh and I hope I can accomplish some of that in this blog.  She also tells me that I’ve lost all my filters…I guess she means that I say what I want with no regard to repercussions.
