He Should Have Told the Bees by Amanda Cox

He Should Have Told the Bees by Amanda Cox is the story of a young woman, Beckett, who has worked with her father on his farm and apiary.  When he passes away, she finds that there is another woman, Callie, named in the trust for the property.  She has no idea who or why her father named this woman as a beneficiary of his legacy.  Of course, they were not aware of each other before.  Beckett wants to keep the property and run the apiary, but Callie needs money the sale of the property would bring.

The two women must find the reason Beckett’s father named Callie in his will and they must find a way to reconcile their differences.  Although I was not a fan of this novel, I will say I learned a lot of information about the keeping of bees and their welfare.  The novel did address another issue, that of agoraphobia.  I found that an interesting inclusion in the novel’s story.

For me, the story did not hold my interest, although I’m sure some would enjoy the interconnection between the two women and the reason they were brought together for the farm’s future.  There was growth of the characters that I sensed as the story evolved, but this book was not one that I was unable to put down.  I made myself keep reading.  My question after reading the book was why the author titled the book the way she did.  I saw no connection at all.  Perhaps I just couldn’t find the reason for myself. I received this book for free and was not required to give this review.
