“No Way Up” by Mary Connealy

“No Way Up” is the first book in The Cimarron Legacy by Mary Connealy.  The book starts out with the kind of action that I really like in a western novel.  Chance Boden, the patriarch of the Cimarron Ranch, is caught in a rock slide and is seriously hurt to the point that it is not guaranteed that he will live.  His two sons, Cole and Justin, and one daughter, Sadie, are caught in his scheme to keep them on the ranch with the reading of his will…at his request before his accident happened.  If the three of them cannot stay together at the ranch for one year, all of them forfeit their legacy.  Hired hand Heath Kincaid is there when the tragic accident happens and applies first aid as he learned it during the Civil War.  His actions prevent Chance Boden losing his leg and his life.  Sadie and Heath are drawn together and are determined to be married, but the brothers plot to keep them apart.  When it is learned that the accident was a deliberate attempt on the life of Chance all four team together to learn the truth.  I really enjoyed reading this novel and look forward to the rest of the series.

I was sent a print copy of this book by Bethany House Publishers in return for my honest review.
