“A Bride at Last” by Melissa Jagears

“A Bride at Last” by Melissa Jagears was very interesting to read.  Silas was jilted by his mail-order bride and Kate was a mail-order bride who decided not to marry her intended groom because he was too fond of the drink.  Kate befriends Silas’ estranged wife and son and provides for them.  Anthony’s mother passes away and Kate is determined to take over the care of Anthony.  The child thinks another man is his father, a man who is abusive and cunning.  In reality Silas is the boy’s father.  The novel centers on whether or not Silas can keep Anthony and whether or not Kate will accept Silas’ proposal of marriage.  I felt pulled apart at times and grew weary of the waffling back and forth between the two characters.  It was a relief to me with the novel was over.

I was sent a free print copy of the book by LitFuse Publicity in return for my honest review of the book.
