“The One that Got Away” by Bethany Chase is a complicated love story. Sarina thinks she is in control of her life. She has had a five year boyfriend and is confident that he will ask her to marry him. All signs point to that end. However, Sarina is blindsided when her old flame comes back to town. He needs an architect to design his fixer-upper and Sarina is delegated that job. This novel is a sexy, steamy account of a woman who is planning her life, but doesn’t realize that life does its own thing no matter what your plans are. Ms. Chase is a good writer and fans of this genre will undoubtedly enjoy this novel. I, unfortunately, am not a fan of sexy, steamy novels with one-night-stands and sex for the sake of just doesn’t thrill me. For that reason, and that reason only, I did not particularly enjoy this novel.
I received a free print copy of the book in return for my honest opinion of the book from NightOwlReviews.com.
