“Heart’s Awakening” by Delia Parr

I enjoyed reading “Heart’s Awakening” by Delia Parr, published by Bethany House.  The story is about Jackson Smith, a widower with two small boys, one of whom has not spoken since his mother left.  Elvira Kilmer has been promised as a housekeeper and nanny by her cousin with whom she has been living since the death of her mother.  Ellie will be penniless, homeless and at the mercy of her cousin and his wife if this job does not work out.  She has to take a ferry and then walk to the Smith home every morning and then reverse her route in the evening.  After Ellie has worked for him for a while it becomes obvious that her travels to and from work are too much and also dangerous.  Jackson offers a marriage of convenience in return for Ellie’s security.

This book kept my interest throughout and I enjoyed reading it.  I downloaded a free Kindle copy of this book from Amazon.com.
