“A Promise to Protect” by Patricia Bradley is a murder mystery set in a small town where everyone knows each other. Leigh Somerall has been gone from town for a very long time, married and widowed with a small son. She calls Ben, a former beau, who is the local sheriff and asks him to protect her brother. Unfortunately he is a little too late in meeting up with him and finds him close to death from a gunshot. Ben is determined to keep Leigh and her son safe, but she doesn’t see the danger until attempts on her life occur. This story keeps the reader guessing throughout, both in finding the killer and also guessing the outcome in the relationship between Leigh and Ben.
I really enjoyed reading this novel and would recommend it as a very good mystery-thriller. I was sent a print copy of this book by NightOwlReviews.com and downloaded a free Kindle copy from NetGalley.com in return for my honest reviews.
