“A Simple Hope” by Rosalind Lauer

“A Simple Hope” by Rosalind Lauer, is a novel in the “Lancaster Crossroads” series.  I was very interested in this book because the story told of overcoming physical obstacles and going on with your life.

Rachel King has loved James Lapp for a very long time.  Everyone just knew they would marry.  And then, a tragic accident happened that left James unable to walk and in a wheelchair.  James was always an outdoor man, taking care of his family’s orchards and doing all the work associated with having a good harvest.  James’ father thought that James should accept God’s will that he be confined to a wheelchair and not seek outside help from the Enlischer doctors.   Rachel stands by James, even though he doesn’t want to marry unless he can provide for her and a family.

James and Rachel find a young girl in need of someplace to stay and hide out from her dishonest boyfriend and they do their best to help her.  They keep it a secret which infuriates James’ father because he does not trust and heartily dislikes anything that is not Amish.  Together James and Rachel find what is important in life and strive to seek that goal for themselves.

I truly enjoyed this novel and would recommend it to anyone who likes to read about the Amish.  I was sent a free print copy of this book in return for my honest review.
