I recently read “A Bride for Keeps ” by Melissa Jagears, published by Bethany House. I picked this book because I am a sucker for any titles about the Old West and those who lived there and then.
This is a story about Everett, a poor rancher who owns a less than profitable ranch, who is trying to make a go of it near the town of Salt Flatts, Kansas. He is admittedly lonely on his ranch and has a desire to find a good woman to be his helpmate and to start a family with. He has invited three mail-order brides to Salt Flatts, just to have them choose another man for their husband. This time, his friend Rachel, whose sister left Everett at the altar, is trying to make up for her sister’s lack by finding a wife for him. She has invited Julia Lockwood, a pen pal, to come west to meet Everett and become his bride. The story progresses, sometimes comically, to the anticipated end with no lack of adventure and romance. I think you would like this book if you are a fan of the Old West.
I was sent a free kindle copy of this book by Bethany House in return for my honest review.
